## Hangr Docs

### Getting Started

#### Welcome to Hangr!

Hangr turns your regular product photos into interactive 3D models that your customers can spin, zoom, and explore. Think of it like giving shoppers the ability to pick up and examine your products, right from their screen.

#### What You'll Need

Before you start:

* **Product photos** - Between 1 and 5 images of your product (more on this below)
* **A Shopify store** - Where you'll display your 3D models
* **Hangr credits** - Used each time you generate a 3D model

#### Your First 3D Model (5-Minute Walkthrough)

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Upload Your Photos

* Click "Create Product" from your dashboard
* Upload 1-5 photos of your product (drag and drop or click to browse)
* Total file size must be under 4.5MB (so if you're uploading 5 photos, keep each under 1MB)
* We accept PNG, JPEG, and JPG files
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Generate

* Hit the "Generate" button
* This uses credits from your account
* Generation typically takes 3-5 minutes depending on the complexity of the model
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review Your Model

* Once ready, you'll see your thumbnail image & interactive 3D model
* Spin it around, zoom in and out
* Check that it looks right from all angles
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Get Your Link

* Copy the viewer link
* You'll use this to add the 3D model to your Shopify store (we'll show you how in Section 4)
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

#### Understanding Credits

<details>

<summary>What are credits?</summary>

Think of credits like tokens at an arcade - you spend them to generate 3D models.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many credits does a generation cost?</summary>

Each 3D model generation costs 1 credit, regardless of how many photos you upload (1-5 images).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if the generation fails?</summary>

If something goes wrong on our end, we won't charge you the credit. If the model generates but you're unhappy with the quality, you'll need to use another credit to regenerate it with better photos.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I get more credits?</summary>

You can purchase additional credits from your dashboard under "Billing."

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where can I see my credit balance?</summary>

Your current credit count is always visible in the top right corner of your dashboard.

## Taking Great Product Photos

#### Why Your Photos Matter

Here's the truth: **your 3D model will only be as good as your photos**. Hangr analyzes your images to figure out what your product looks like from every angle. Clear, consistent photos = amazing 3D model. Blurry or inconsistent photos = disappointing results.

#### The Golden Rules (Follow These!)

**✅ Use consistent lighting**

* All photos should have the same lighting
* Avoid shadows falling on different parts in different photos
* Natural daylight or softbox lighting works best

**✅ Use a plain background**

* White, light grey, or any solid neutral color
* The simpler, the better
* Avoid busy patterns, wood floors, or cluttered backgrounds

**✅ Keep your product centered**

* Product should fill most of the frame
* Don't cut off any parts
* Make sure nothing is hidden or blocked

**✅ Use high-quality images**

* No blurry photos
* No extreme shadows
* Minimum 1000px on the shortest side
* Keep file size under 1MB per photo (under 4.5MB total)

**✅ Show the same product**

* Don't mix different color variants
* Keep the product in the same position/orientation
* One product = one 3D model

#### How Many Photos Should I Upload?

* **1 photo minimum** - Will generate, but results may be limited
* **3-5 photos recommended** - Best quality 3D model
* **5 photos maximum** - Our current limit

#### What Angles Should I Capture?

The more angles, the better your 3D model. Try to include:

1. **Front view** - Straight on **(Main Reference Image)**
2. **Back view** - Rotate 180°
3. **Left side** - 90° from front
4. **Right side** - 90° from front
5. **Alternative views**
   * **Angled view** - 45° angle to either side
   * **Top/Bottom view** - If details on these angles are crucial

{% hint style="warning" %}
Don't repeat the same angle! Five front views won't help - we need variety.
{% endhint %}

#### Product-Specific Tips

**Rigid Products**

* These work GREAT with Hangr
* Hard edges and fixed shapes generate the best 3D models
* Still follow the lighting and background rules
* Show any text or labels clearly

**Bags & Accessories**

* Stuff the bag so it holds its shape
* Same stuffing level in all photos
* Show it standing/positioned the same way in each shot
* For flat items like wallets, lay them on a flat surface

**Footwear**

* Photograph on a plain surface
* Keep the shoe in the same position (don't have it lying down in one photo and standing in another)
* Make sure both shoes of a pair look identical
* Capture the sole if possible (place on clear glass and shoot from below, or just angle the shoe)

**Clothing & Soft Items**

* Use a mannequin
* Keep the fabric smooth (no wrinkles between shots)
* Maintain the exact same position/pose across all photos
* Ghost mannequins work best (invisible mannequin effect)

#### Common Photo Mistakes (Avoid These!)

**❌ Mixing color variants**

**Example:** Red bag front view, blue bag back view\
**Fix:** One color per 3D model. Generate separate models for each color.

**❌ Inconsistent backgrounds**

**Example:** White background in 3 photos, wooden table in 2 photos\
**Fix:** Use the same background for all photos.

**❌ Shadow differences**

**Example:** Strong shadow on the left in photo 1, no shadow in photo 2\
**Fix:** Use even, consistent lighting for all shots.

**❌ Product in different positions**

**Example:** Shoe upright in some photos, on its side in others\
**Fix:** Keep the product oriented the same way in every photo.

**❌ Blurry or low-resolution images**

**Example:** Using phone photos taken in low light\
**Fix:** Use good lighting and a steady hand (or tripod).

**❌ Cutting off parts of the product**

**Example:** Top of a bottle cut off in one photo\
**Fix:** Make sure the entire product is visible in every shot.

#### Quick Photo Checklist

Before you upload, ask yourself:

* Are all my photos well-lit with consistent lighting?
* Is the background plain and the same in all photos?
* Is my product centered and fully visible in each photo?
* Are all photos clear and high-resolution?
* Am I showing different angles (not repeating the same view)?
* Is this the same color variant in all photos?
* Are my file sizes under 1MB each (under 4.5MB total)?
* Are my files PNG or JPEG format?

{% hint style="success" %}
If you can check all these boxes, you're ready to generate!
{% endhint %}

## Generating Your 3D Model

#### Starting a Generation

From your Hangr dashboard:

1. Click the **"New Model"** button
2. Upload your 1-5 product photos (drag and drop or click to browse)
3. Double-check your photos look good in the preview
4. Click **"Generate"**
5. Confirm - this will use 1 credit from your account once generation is complete

#### What Happens During Generation

Once you hit generate:

* Hangr analyzes your images
* Our AI builds the 3D geometry and textures
* You'll see a progress indicator
* **Typical wait time: 3-5 minutes**

You can leave the page and come back - the model is ready once the thumbnail appears.

#### Reviewing Your 3D Model

When generation is complete, you'll see your interactive viewer:

**Controls:**

* **Click and drag** to rotate
* **Scroll** to zoom in/out
* **Two-finger drag** on mobile to pan around

**What to check:**

* Spin it 360° - does it look correct from all sides?
* Zoom in - are textures clear and detailed?
* Check edges - are they smooth or distorted?
* Look for any weird artifacts or missing parts

#### Can I Edit the 3D Model?

Not right now. The model you see is what Hangr generates from your photos. If you need changes, you'll need to retake photos and regenerate.

Think of it like Instagram filters - you're working with what the camera captures, not editing the raw image yourself.

## Adding 3D to Your Shopify Store

#### Getting Your Viewer Link

Once your 3D model is ready:

1. Open the model in your Hangr dashboard
2. Look for the **"Copy Viewer"** button (located bottom right)
3. Click it - the link is now copied to your clipboard

This link is what you'll add to Shopify. It looks something like: `https://hangrsolutions.com/{hangr_id}/{your_email}/{product_id}`

#### Where Should I Place the 3D Viewer?

**Best practices:**

**✅ Above the fold** - Near the top of the product page where customers see it immediately

**✅ Near product images** - Right after your photo gallery makes sense

**✅ Before long descriptions** - Let customers explore the 3D model before reading walls of text

**❌ At the very bottom** - Many customers won't scroll that far

**❌ Hidden in tabs** - Don't bury it where people might miss it

#### Does It Work on Mobile?

Yes! The 3D viewer is fully responsive and works great on phones and tablets. Customers can:

* Swipe to rotate
* Pinch to zoom
* Tap and drag to explore

{% hint style="warning" %}
Always preview on mobile before publishing to make sure it looks good on smaller screens.
{% endhint %}

#### Testing Before Going Live

Before you publish:

1. **Save as draft** or preview the product page
2. **Check desktop view** - Does it load? Can you interact with it?
3. **Check mobile view** - Same tests on your phone
4. **Check load speed** - Does the page feel slow?
5. **Test on different browsers** - Chrome, Safari, Firefox

If everything works smoothly, you're ready to publish!

## Troubleshooting

#### Generation Issues

<details>

<summary>My model is stuck on "Generating..."</summary>

* Wait at least 10 minutes - complex models can take longer
* Refresh your browser
* Check your internet connection
* If it's been over 20 minutes, contact support - something went wrong

</details>

<details>

<summary>Image Upload failed / Images too large</summary>

* Check that your images are under 4.5MB total
* Make sure you uploaded PNG or JPEG files
* Verify you have credits remaining
* Check that your images aren't corrupted (try opening them on your computer)
* Contact support if the issue persists - we'll refund the credit if it's our fault

</details>

<details>

<summary>The 3D model looks weird/distorted</summary>

This is usually a photo quality issue. Review Section 2 and check:

* Did you use consistent lighting?
* Are backgrounds the same?
* Did you show enough angles?
* Are images high resolution?

Try regenerating with better photos.

</details>

## Billing & Credits

#### How Credits Work

Every time you generate a 3D model, you use **1 credit** - regardless of whether you upload 1 photo or 5 photos.

Think of credits like prepaid generation tokens. You buy them in advance, then spend them as you create 3D models.

#### Your Starting Credits

When you create your Hangr account, you start with credits to test the platform. Check your dashboard to see your current balance.

#### Purchasing More Credits

When you run low:

1. Go to your Hangr dashboard
2. Click **"Billing"** in the navigation
3. Choose a credit package
4. Complete payment
5. Credits are added to your account immediately

#### What Happens If Generation Fails?

**If Hangr has a technical issue:** We won't charge your credit. You'll see "Refunded" in your usage history.

**If the model generates but you don't like it:** That credit is used. You'll need another credit to regenerate with better photos.

Think of it like taking a photo with film - if the camera jammed, you get your film back.
